Join a purpose-driven organisation and make an impact in the lives of Older Australians.

Masonic Care WA is a Western Australian not-for-profit organisation, delivering Residential Aged Care, Retirement Living, and Rental Accommodation across both metropolitan and regional WA. With a proud history of service stretching back over a century, we are driven by our values of Compassion, Integrity, and Respect.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on, practical Generalist Maintenance/Handyman to join our team at Middle Swan Residential Care. In this role, you’ll support the smooth running of our home by completing general maintenance tasks and assisting wherever needed to ensure our facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for our residents.

We’re seeking someone who takes pride in their work, is reliable, has a “can-do” attitude, and is happy to roll up their sleeves — whether it’s fixing a cupboard door, moving furniture, sorting deliveries, or responding quickly when something needs attention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance and minor repair tasks across the home, ensuring facilities are kept in good working order.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify issues and respond promptly to maintenance needs.
  • Respond quickly to urgent maintenance requests and attend to emergencies to minimise risk and disruption.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors for specialised maintenance or repairs, ensuring work is completed to standard.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities in line with health, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with relocating and setting up furniture or equipment to meet the changing needs of the home.
  • Support with unpacking deliveries, organising supplies, and maintaining general stores and equipment stock.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are stored safely and kept in good condition.
  • Keep maintenance and storage areas clean, tidy, and free from hazards.
  • Report any safety concerns promptly and assist in maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Collaborate with team members and provide practical support where needed to ensure the home operates smoothly.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in general maintenance or handyman work (aged care experience is a bonus)
  • Practical skills in basic repairs like carpentry, plumbing, or electrical
  • Able to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
  • A positive attitude and good problem-solving skills
  • Awareness of safety requirements in a care environment
  • Willing to help the team wherever needed
  • Good time management and communication skills
  • Friendly, approachable, and respectful
  • Valid driver’s licence

Why Join Us?

At Masonic Care WA, we offer more than just a job:

  • A friendly and values-driven team culture
  • Competitive remuneration
  • Salary packaging options of up to $18,550 p.a.
  • A positive, collaborative workplace
  • A chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older Australians
